What is LORN
The Learning Object Repository Network (LORN) is a free, easy to use portal that allows teachers and trainers to access quality online
resources for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
Developed by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), LORN is building the capacity to share and provide online access to teaching and learning resources for the VET sector.
How it has evolved
In 2003, the Framework began
developing the structures and standards for managing and accessing quality
electronic learning resources across the national training sector.
LORN was established in 2004 for the exchange
of learning objects between states and territories, based on a model of trust,
cooperation and interoperability. LORN currently enables the Australian
VET sector to share teaching and learning resources that support
flexible delivery.
Where to now
In the near future LORN expects to
-
increase the number of active repositories from five to eight.
-
add e-transactions and make more learning objects available at affordable prices.
-
add new features which will improve searching and would allow users to provide content reviews.
